This is something a little different. It is a custom made wig I designed for someone.

They have a condition called Alopecia Universalis - this condition can often start off as Alopecia Areata (patchy hair loss) and develop into Totalis (where the whole scalp is affected) and can develop further into Universalis where the whole body is affected. It is a very unpredictable condition, so trying to determine the path it will take is impossible. The cause is inflammation in the follicle, what triggers this inflammation is continuously being researched but we do know it is an autoimmune condition, the immune system is highly involved as it attacks these follicles sometimes without any pattern at all. It can be treated but importantly not cured with steroids and immunosuppressive treatments but if the condition progresses as far as Totalis or Universalis the likelihood of regrowth diminishes.

To make this I took a template so the wig would fit snug and perfectly to their scalp, the polyurethane perimeter will keep the wig secure without any movement. If you would like further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
